The Alpha Esquires Program is a mentoring program for young men in grades 7-12 currently enrolled in Los Angeles area schools.

The Alpha Esquires Program is a pre-college mentoring program designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards various aspects of life pertinent to African American males from middle school to high school and beyond. The purpose of the Alpha Esquires Program is to develop the skills to achieve throughout high school, college, and build a foundation to become productive citizens within their community. The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Beta Psi Lambda Chapter serve as mentors and friends to the group.

The Alpha Esquires Program focuses on developing a college portfolio and developing skills to handle business matters and social issues. This includes college, financial, and etiquette workshops. The Alpha Esquires Program participates in service projects such as The Dream Center and The Food Bank.

The Alpha Esquires Program meets two Saturdays a month. To receive additional information, please contact us at mentorship@bpl1940.org.

Scholarship

Through Beta Psi Lambda's scholarship committee, we promote and celebrate the higher education of our senior high school young men, who will embark on one of the greatest experiences of their lives as they transition to college.

Through Beta Psi Lambda's scholarship committee, we promote and celebrate the higher education of our senior high school young men, who will embark on one of the greatest experiences of their lives as they transition to college.

Over a 30 year period, Beta Psi Lambda has awarded over 200 scholarships, totally over $250,000.

As part of Alpha Phi Alpha’s mission statement, Beta Psi Lambda Chapter promotes “academic excellence,” as there are a number of educators within this chapter, and we administer programs that prepare high school students to position themselves to pursue a higher education through college.

Our chapter’s scholarship program is part of the Fraternity’s “Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College” national program which was established in 1922. The program concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. Statistics prove the value of this extra impetus in making the difference in the success of young African-American men, given that school completion is the single best predictor of future economic success.

The Beta Psi Lambda Chapter is a non-profit 501(c) (7) organization and contributions to its separate Education Endowment Fund are tax deductible. For more information and to donate to this fund, contact Brother Sergio Bent, Scholarship Committee Chair at scholarship@bpl1940.org.
